Informal Learning

When I published my e-book Cappuccino U late in 2006 and send it to several people, local and international, I was unaware of the great interest in the area of informal learning. I was delighted when people like Harold Jarche responded very positively to the ideas in the book. I have since subscribed to his blog and to several others which focus on informal learning and distance education.
In his latest blog entry Harold suggests that informal learning could be even more important in the future than formal learning:
"As we become more connected, I think that informal learning may be the only way that we learn. We will need individual, customised experiences and we will decide what these will be. Formal, standardized training & education will become second class. Standardized jobs will be the lowest paying ones, so who will want standardized education? Not anyone who has a choice. The choices will be various and many will be free. They already are."
Harold's blog is one of the best sources of information and discussion on informal learning: and it's one of the most attractive and well-designed blog on my list.
